June August brings her most recent series of work "Floating World" to THE CLOWN. August spent 10 months at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music on a Research Fellowship in Tokyo, Japan, in 2001 - 2002. She studied Japanese woodblock techniques and design. This body of work began in Japan and has continued on over the next 2 years, culminating in this very impressive show of ancient and modern printmaking techniques and styles. August has combined the traditional techniques with her American Pop sensibilities.
June August was raised in the United States, but her family has roots in Europe. her career has been very strong in Belgium, Germany, Paris and Japan. June August has also shown previously at The O'Farrell Gallery in Brunswick and been juried into the Portland Museum of Art Biennial in 1998 - 99. We are proud to bring Ms. August back to Maine at THE CLOWN.
