Paintings

She-Rests
"She Rests", 2006, Acrylic on Canvas

Hélène Farrar has been busy this year. Painting and giving birth to her daughter, Olympia. Come in to see all the new and interesting work she has been producing all year.

Farrar, a Maine native, grew up in Hallowell and Farmington, Maine. She has a B.A. in Studio Art from the University of Maine, Orono, and a M.F.A. from Goddard College, Plainfield, VT. A former Middle School Art teacher, Farrar took a big step last year to commit all her time to her art career. We are fortunate to represent Farrar as she has an amazing spirit as a painter and story teller.

Hélène Farrar has worked from her own experiences, and has also interviewed others about their primary mother/child relationships. The paintings illustrate different aspects of motherhood and lessons that are universal. Farrar has a deep and rich family background that informs all her paintings, giving them strong emotional depth. Farrar has also painted more whimsical paintings as though from a child's perspective about the fun things we might have learned growing up. We hope the show will inspire the viewer to examine their own past and present relationship with "Mom" and in turn, bring forth everyone's own story.

Join us for the Artist Reception on Thursday, November 3rd, 5 - 8pm or Hélène Farrar will give a gallery talk on Saturday, November 19th, at 6pm. Please come meet and learn from this amazing woman.
